WHO are Parkdale Primary School?

Parkdale Primary School are part of the Transform Trust, a multi-academy trust based in the East Midlands, comprising 26 schools. They are ‘two-form entry’, meaning they have two classes in each year from Reception to Year 6.  Their capacity is 420 children, and they are usually full or over-subscribed!

WHAT will I get from working with Parkdale Primary School?

• EARN: £7.55 per hour, 37 hours per week
• EXPERIENCE- your hours: Monday to Friday, flexible hours between 8am and 4.30pm.
• QUALIFICATION: Teaching Assistant Level 3 takes approximately 16 months.

WHAT will my DAY look like?

You will be joining a friendly team that creates a thriving, fun and safe environment for the children. Parkdale is passionate about supporting children and their families, even beyond the perimeter of their site. This is an exciting opportunity for you to provide extra support to children and teaching staff in the school. Your daily tasks will include:

• Supporting pupils’ learning activities including additional learning needs and development.
• Maintaining an awareness of the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning activities.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with individual pupils and groups by using effective communication and understanding the value of treating all individuals fairly.
• Contributing to the management of pupil behaviour by encouraging positive behaviour in the classroom.
• Helping with the care and support of pupils by supporting children’s communication and intellectual development and physical, emotional and social development.
• Contributing to the health and well-being of pupils through the support of safeguarding for pupils by ensuring a safe environment and always following policies & procedures.
• Assisting with the personal and intimate care of pupils.
• Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

HOW does the Apprenticeship work?

Working towards your Teaching Assistant Level 3 Qualification, you’ll attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your tutor and learn about modules including review & delivery, communication, pastoral, relationships & role modelling, learning & support, and more!  You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

WHAT skills/qualifications do I NEED?

• Minimum GRADE 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English
• UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
• Communication
• Initiative
• Non judgemental
• Ability to be patient and nurturing to support children with special educational needs.

What happens next?
