WHO are Ancaster Village Day Nursery?

The Nursery offers quality childcare for children aged from 6 weeks old, in a home from home, safe and fun environment, with a team of experienced, highly skilled and caring childcare professionals including a qualified Forest School leader.

The Nursery consists of three age specific rooms all leading onto their own outdoor patios and gardens with play space for all weathers. The garden is surrounded by open fields housing horses and rabbits, a place where the children love to watch and say hello to the animals next door.

WHAT will I get from working with Ancaster Village Day Nursery?

  • EARN: £7.55 per hour, 30-40 hours per week
  • EXPERIENCE- your hours: Monday to Friday shifts between 7.45am and 6pm.
  • QUALIFICATION: Early Years Practitioner Level 2 takes approximately 16 months.

WHAT will my DAY look like?

You will be joining a homely supportive staff team who looks after each other whilst being nurturing to the children & their families. You will play a vital role in supporting the overall care & development of children, while simultaneously gaining practical skills & knowledge through an apprenticeship program. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Assisting with breakfast & being there to support children who may struggle to leave parents in the morning.
  • Helping to set up age-appropriate activities based on children’s interests.
  • Following routines & best practice modelled by staff.
  • Outside play is a vital part of the Nursery’s ethos, they go out in all weathers, so ensuring you are clothed correctly for the weather – as you will be expected to get down to the children’s level which includes getting dirty!
  • Helping to serve lunch & adhering to allergies / dietary requirements.
  • Assisting staff to get children to sleep.
  • Helping with toileting & nappy changes.
  • Cleaning – it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain clean environments through the day.
  • Helping in different rooms to gain experience off all the age ranges.
  • Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

HOW does the Apprenticeship Work?

Working towards your Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Qualification, you’ll attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your tutor and learn about modules including child development from birth to 7 years, safeguarding, promoting wellbeing, supporting activities, purposeful play & educational programmes, and more!  You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

WHAT skills/qualifications do I NEED?

  • Minimum GRADE 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English.
  • UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Communication, team working & customer care.
  • Creativity, initiative, presentation & number skills.
  • Non-judgemental & patience.

What happens next?
