Early Years Educator @ Little Toes, Mansfield

WHO are Little Toes?

Little Toes Day Nurseries are a family-run business with a passion to provide exceptional childcare within a home from home setting. Opening in 2017, starting out as a Creche service providing short sessional childcare for the nearby health facilities before becoming Ofsted registered in August 2017. Little Toes Mansfield came later in 2024.

Their nurseries offer safe, nurturing surroundings for children aged from 6 weeks through to 5 years. Inspired by the work of Anna Ephgrave’ focusing highly on the children learning through play, children take the lead in their learning in our homely settings.

WHAT will I get from working with Little Toes?

  • EARN: £7.55 per hour, 40 hours per week
  • EXPERIENCE- your hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm
  • QUALIFICATION: Early Years Educator Level 3 takes approximately 18 months.

WHAT will my DAY look like?

You will be supporting with providing high quality care to young children. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Contributing to a programme of activities tailored to each child’s needs and interests.
  • Recording children’s learning and development journeys, and sharing these with parents, carers, and other key adults.
  • Liaising with and supporting parents, carers, and other family members.
  • Attending activities that are out of working hours (e.g. staff meetings, training, and events etc.)
  • Being flexible and prepared to help where needed (including domestic jobs e.g. preparing meals, and cleaning toys etc.)
  • Following the ethos of the nursery, creating a warm and friendly environment.
  • Ensuring that EYFS is promoted efficiently and that its policies are followed correctly.
  • Helping with the smooth running of the Nursery.
  • Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role.
  • A minimum of 6 hours per week spent completing apprenticeship work which includes assignments, research, and training within your role

HOW does the Apprenticeship work?

Working towards your Early Years Educator Level 3 Qualification, you’ll attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your tutor and learn about modules including risk management, key person & attachment, learning & development, and more!  You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

WHAT skills/qualifications do I NEED?

  • Minimum GRADE 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English
  • UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
  • Level 2 Childcare and/or equivalent
  • Good communication and attention to detail
  • Patience
  • Problem solving skills

What happens next?
