Apprenticeships aren't just for starting a career—they can help you progress in the role you already have. Kirsty's apprenticeship journey with CT Skills helped her develop leadership skills, build confidence and gain recognition for her achievements within the NHS, leading to success at the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards 2026.

Whether you're looking to take your first step into a career or develop your existing skills, apprenticeships can help you achieve your goals.

Yes! Apprenticeships are paid positions. Full information about the current minimum wage for apprentices in the UK can be found here.

In many cases, yes. Most apprenticeships lead to a job within the company you trained with. If not, you’ll still have a recognised qualification and valuable experience to support your next step.

If you’re struggling or need more time, speak with your trainer assessor and employer. Extensions can sometimes be arranged to delay your End Point Assessment (EPA) / apprenticeship assessment.

Yes — as long as the next apprenticeship offers new learning and progression (e.g., moving from Level 2 to Level 3). Explore routes on our Careers Hub to see where apprenticeships can lead.

Talk to your employer or trainer assessor. Sometimes adjustments can be made, or you may be able to transfer onto a different course.

Sometimes, yes — if you can demonstrate all required skills and knowledge early. This depends on your programme structure and agreements with your employer and trainer assessor.

Apprenticeships are designed within working hours. Your employer will provide dedicated ‘off the job’ time for learning and development. Despite the name, most activities happen naturally within your role, with a weekly allocated study session. Any additional work outside hours is optional.
