Learning For Each Step of Your Career

We are committed to supporting our learners throughout every stage of their careers—whether it's helping them get the start they need in their chosen sector or providing the knowledge necessary to progress to their next step.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship can support progression into higher-level education roles and further professional development. Depending on an individual’s qualifications and teaching experience, there are several potential routes towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Learner Pathways

For those looking to take their career in education even further, there are several potential progression routes beyond the Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship. Depending on existing qualifications, experience and career goals, learners may progress towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or pursue other advanced roles within education.

These options provide opportunities for learners to continue developing professionally and building a long-term career in the education sector.

Foundation Degree or Degree in Education

A stepping stone to higher-level roles and further academic study.

Assessment Only Route to QTS

Experienced practitioners who already meet the Teachers’ Standards may be able to achieve Qualified Teacher Status through an assessment-only route, without completing further teacher training. Eligibility depends on previous teaching experience and provider requirements.

Teacher Degree Apprenticeship

For those without an undergraduate degree, a Teacher Degree Apprenticeship provides the opportunity to work in a school, earn a salary and complete a bachelor’s degree while working towards Qualified Teacher Status.

Salaried Postgraduate Teacher Training

For those who already have a degree, employment-based routes such as School Direct salaried training and Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeships allow eligible candidates to earn a salary while training towards Qualified Teacher Status.
