The Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship is tailored for professionals working in education who want to enhance their ability to support learners effectively. Eligible Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant apprentices may be able to complete the Higher-Level Teaching Assistant HLTA Assessment from Gateway onward.
This assessment-only route formally recognises the skills, experience and professional practice of teaching assistants who are already working at a higher level in school.
The HLTA Assessment is available at a reduced cost of £350, paid by the employer.
