Apprentice Payroll Administrator @ Camfaud Concrete Pumps

Location: High Road, Thornwood Common, Epping, CM16 6LU

Camfaud Concrete Pumps Ltd is the UK’s leading concrete pump hire company with over 300 staff across nationwide depots. As part of our ongoing investment in talent and operational excellence, we are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Payroll & HR Administrator to join our growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career or looking to retrain, combining full-time employment with structured training and a nationally recognised Level 3 Payroll Administrator Apprenticeship.

WHAT will I get from working with Camfaud Concrete Pumps?

  • EARN: £18,000 per year.
  • EXPERIENCE- your hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with 1 hour lunch break.
  • QUALIFICATION: Payroll Admin Level 3 takes approximately 20 months.

WHAT will my DAY look like?

As an Apprentice Payroll Administrator, you will predominately support the Payroll and HR functions in delivering accurate and timely weekly payroll, alongside providing essential administrative and employee support. You will gain hands-on experience in payroll processing, HR administration, reporting, and responding to employee queries, while developing your technical and professional skills.

You will be working within a team of 2, directly supporting an established and supportive manager, with over 15 years’ experience. Camfaud already supports a number of apprentices, so you are joining a structured, supportive team with an established peer group.

  • Supporting the preparation and processing of weekly payroll runs.
  • Assisting with checking and inputting timesheets, hours worked and pay data.
  • Helping to calculate overtime, statutory payments, and payroll adjustments.
  • Ensuring payroll deadlines are met and data is accurate and complete.
  • Providing general administrative support across Payroll and HR functions.
  • Maintaining and updating employee records on payroll systems.
  • Assisting with filing, documentation, and data entry tasks.
  • Ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance at all times.
  • Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Supporting the investigation and resolution of basic payroll issues.
  • Escalating more complex queries to senior team members where appropriate.
  • Providing a helpful first point of contact for payroll-related queries.
  • Assisting with the preparation of weekly, and ad hoc payroll reports.
  • Supporting with data extraction and analysis for management reporting.
  • Helping to maintain accuracy and consistency of payroll data across systems.
  • Assisting with audit checks and reconciliation tasks where required.
  • Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

HOW does the Apprenticeship work?

Working towards your Payroll Admin Level 3 Qualification, you’ll attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your tutor and learn about key areas such as statutory entitlements and deductions, payroll legislation and regulation, handling queries and complaints, and managing new starters and leavers. You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

WHAT skills/qualifications do I NEED?

  • Minimum GRADE 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English.
  • UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic & eager to learn.
  • Strong communication skills, both written & verbal.
  • High attention to detail & accuracy.
  • Good organisation & time management skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team & independently.
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, email, Excel)
  • Basic knowledge of VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
