Apprenticeship Job Title:           Finance Assistant (Apprentice)

Apprenticeship Qualification:   AAT Level 3

Apprenticeship Duration:          17 months

 

How does the Apprenticeship work? 

 

As an Apprentice, you will be employed, just like anyone else at the company, the difference is that you will be studying towards a qualification.

 

You’ll spend a minimum of 6 hours a week (of your total working hours) in a number of different Training, Learning & Development Activities that all develop your Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours in line with your Apprenticeship Qualification. These will include (for example) staff meetings, online courses, shadowing other team members, as well as ongoing coaching and mentoring from/with your line manager. The units covered within this qualification include:

 

·         Personal development

·         Communication

·         Business awareness

·         Tax processes for business

·         IT systems and processes

·         Behaviours

·         Preparing financial statements

·         Ethical standards

·         Management accounting techniques

 

AAT Level 2 and Level 3 (industry recognised Qualifications) are delivered on a modular basis, via fortnightly Tutor led group workshops (live, virtual 6 hour sessions) and bi-monthly exams, taken at a local accredited / approved AAT testing centre (location to be confirmed). You will also complete study, assignments and coursework, and a blend of learning and development activities, all, within the workplace, and will be given ‘Protected Time’ each week to do this – so no homework!! This will all prepare you for your End Point Assessment (EPA) once you have completed all the learning required.  As CT Skills is a training provider, all our vacancies are for immediate starts so please consider this when you are applying.

About the Role:

The role of Finance Assistant will perform a range of duties within the Finance function supporting the Finance Manager and gaining knowledge and experience of a finance function.  The roles will spend the first 6 months in either Purchase Ledger or Sales Ledger and will swap to broaden their experience.

 

And Day to Day? …. You will be Responsible for:

·         Assist with posting purchase ledger invoices.

·         Monthly reconciliation of petty cash balances.

·         Checking staff expenses to ensure completeness of receipts, claims correctly authorised and posting to ledger.

·         Ensuring invoices received from suppliers are paid by direct debit.

·         Assisting with customer direct debit calculations.

·         Posting bank entries and reconciliation of bank balances.

·         Preparing analysis on monthly overhead spend by category.

·         Ensuring all office supplies are purchased in line with company procedures.

·         Supporting credit control team and understanding the group’s credit control process.

KPI’s include:

Ø  Timely posting and payment of staff expenses.

Ø  Successfully complete AAT studies.

Ø  Ensure monthly overhead analysis is prepared within agreed timelines.
