About The Employer:                           

The Next Step Trust is a charity established in 2006 to support adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs. Established by parents its objective is to provide a comprehensive day service provision along with other services as required by the individuals we support. We aim to work in keeping with the personalisation agenda. We aim to provide facilities to ensure appropriate access and support for all who use our centres.

All our bases have ramped access and are equipped to meet the requirements of the Next Steppers. We have overhead hoists, mobile hoists, shower beds, changing beds and glide sheets to meet moving and handling and personal care requirements. We have physio beds and floor mats to ensure we can support Next Steppers to exercise and follow their physiotherapists prescribed routines.

At both our King Cross Centre and the Hoover Building we have lifts to access all floors where our other sites are all Ground Floor based.

To maintain links between all of our centres and access to our community and other facilities, we have a fleet of vehicles comprising six mini buses and 2 large cars with capacity for wheelchair users.

About the Role:

To provide administrative tasks including word processing and desk top publishing systems i.e. spreadsheets, databases and other computer based systems. The effective provision of clerical services to the management team, including word processing and the backing up of files on a weekly basis. Opening and directing mail to appropriate staff and responsibility for despatch of mail, photocopying and general tasks.  Answering the telephone, sending and receiving faxes and E-mail.

And Day to Day?

  • The undertaking of reception duties including visits and telephone enquiries by parents, visitors, contractors, representatives and others as necessary.
  • Responsibility for following the established office management procedures and systems.
  • To carry out other duties commensurate with the post of Apprentice Administration assistant as and when necessary under the guidance of the administration assistant.
  • To carry out general administration duties e.g. maintaining filing, stationary etc.
  • To ensure members of the public/parents/carers are received and welcomed.
  • To receive and deal with phone calls
