Internal Progression at CT Skills
Four years ago, CT Skills Trainer Assessor, Paula Hingley was working as a busy Freelance Assessor in London, a city where she had relocated to 23 years previously to gain experience of working within the childcare sector.
After growing up in the East Midlands, Paula wanted to make the move back with her son to her home town and soon found a role as a Childcare Tutor with leading training provider, CT Skills.
“I had been working in London for a long time and had worked in a variety of roles including a live-in Nanny followed by a Montessori Nursery Nurse, this led to my qualification as a Montessori trained teacher. However after having my son, my time in London had naturally come to an end and I was keen to get back to my home town in the Midlands."
For her first year with CT Skills, Paula worked as a Childcare Tutor and was soon progressed to working in the Sector Based Academy department. After just five months in her new role, Operations Manager Emma Gundel saw Paula's potential and offered her an even more advanced role working as a Trainer Assessor within the Apprenticeship Team, which is where she has now worked for the past 2 years.
CT Skills take pride in developing their staff and make great efforts to encourage their personal development within the business, which is why all employees have the opportunity to undertake training courses alongside their day to day roles. Many of the staff at CT Skills have either completed or are in training for an Apprenticeship, Functional Skills or AAT Accountancy Qualification.
Through CT Skills, Paula has gained a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, a course which is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge for those already in a teaching role.
Upon completing the course, Paula said; "I love CT Skills, they are always pushing me to be the best I can be and they certainly see a bright future for me here. I know they really care about my future within the business which is a great position for anyone to be in. I have learned a lot over the past 4 years and would tell anyone who is joining the company to be excited about a future with CT Skills; it is a rewarding, supportive and fulfilling place to work.
Thanks to CT Skills for the seeing the potential in me, I now get to see the potential in so many learners who go on to accomplish their dream of working in Childcare."
