Preparing to Work in the Commonwealth Games – Birmingham (19+)

The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will bring people together, whether they are athletes from countries far and wide, or communities from across the Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Do you want to work for the Commonwealth Games? This Preparing to Work in the Commonwealth Games SWAP will give you the opportunity to improve your skills and meet the employers looking to hire for this amazing experience.

You will develop excellent customer service skills and knowledge to use in any customer service and hospitality environment. The skills you develop will help you to access entry level jobs associated with the Commonwealth Games, including:

  • Stewarding
  • Logistics
  • Cleaning
  • Catering

If you are looking for some temporary work at the Commonwealth Games and would like to support your application by upskilling and gaining qualifications, then this is the course for you!

Qualifications you will receive:

The delivery of this programme is remote with live virtual daily teaching from your assigned Tutor. Training includes:

  • Level 1 Customer Service
  • Optional qualifications: Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, Manual Handling and COSSH

Eligibility to work at The Commonwealth Games:

To be eligible learners should be:

  • Aged 19 before the 31st August 2021
  • Unemployed or claiming out of work benefits. Or employed and earning under £17,374.50 per year
  • A British or EU citizen and lived in the UK for more than three years
  • Be working to at least Level 1 in Literacy
