Nottinghamshire's leading care home operator Newcare Homes worked alongside CT Skills to provide job opportunities for those seeking employment through the Sector Based Work Academy recruitment solution.
Newcare Homes had a variety of Care Assistant and Hospitality Assistant roles available at their stunning new home, Ruddington Manor Care Centre, a purpose-built 66 bed care facility which is situated in the popular location of Wilford in Nottingham.
CT Skills offered the Hospitality and Care vacancies as two Sector Based Work Academies to job seekers within the local area. CT Skills followed to keen learners on their journey, as they completed the short course to achieve the qualifications required to work within a care home setting.
Susan Wormall (55) had worked within the retail sector for 28 years before she was unexpectedly made redundant by her employer. Unsure of what the future would hold, Susan began to claim Job Seeker's Allowance in order to support her family during her time out of work. After attending interviews and struggling to secure a role, Susan felt that she was lacking in qualifications, so got in touch with CT Skills about the opportunities they had available and was soon introduced to the Sector Based Work Academy offering.
Susan signed up to a Selection Day and was very apprehensive about returning to an education setting, but after coming to CT Skills she began to immediately feel at ease.
"I loved the idea of gaining a qualification and securing a job interview at such a fantastic new care home. I had always wanted to work in hospitality within the care sector; however I didn't have the experience or qualifications to secure a role within the industry. As soon as I began the two week hospitality course with CT Skills, I felt happy and excited about my future again."
Louise Walker (39) was a single mum who had been out of work for over 15 years as she had always cared for her young children. Louise felt her children had now grown up and it was the right time to get back into work. As she enjoyed caring for her children so much, Louise knew she wanted a role working in care but lacked the qualifications to secure a role.
After speaking with her local Job Centre, Louise contacted CT Skills about their Sector Based Work Academies and soon enrolled on to the care course.
"CT Skills gave me the confidence and skills to go out and get the job I had only ever dreamed of. My tutor was amazing and I can't thank him enough for all of his help and support throughout the course."
