Q&A with Lucy Cowe

"I felt extremely proud to be an apprentice"

Congratulations! How do you feel after winning the award?
I felt extremely overwhelmed as I wasn't expecting to win. I was shortlisted in to the final four and could not believe it when they called my name out as there were so many other great nominees.
What was it like to attend the North Midlands and South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards?

It was a fantastic evening! I was called up on stage in front of my employers and received the award for Apprentice of the Year 2018, afterwards I was interviewed by the local press and had my photograph taken. I am still in shock that I won.
Why do you think you were nominated for the award?
I have come so far in the short time that I have been here and I think I have set a great example to other apprentices coming into the business. I complete my Level 2 Apprenticeship with CT Skills in 3 months time and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me once I have finished.
Could you describe your role at Fidler & Pepper?
I first began as a Modern Apprentice and progressed within a few months to Trainee Conveyancing Assistant. I have just been promoted again to Conveyancing Assistant which means I now have the opportunity to handle the day to day running of a caseload of files as well as having the responsibility to deal with transactions from instruction through to completion.
How would you describe your apprenticeship with CT Skills?
The apprenticeship has opened so many doors for me and it has massively helped with my confidence and personal development.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to anyone considering one?
Yes definitely! It has been a great experience for me and thanks to CT Skills I am excited about my career with Fidler & Pepper.
