AAT Apprenticeship Case Study: Simran Marld
In September 2017, Simran Marld had just completed her first year at Sixth Form and quickly realised that a classroom setting wasn't right for her, as she had always longed to be in a busy office environment.
Simran had a passion for numbers and knew she wanted to pursue a career within finance, which after researching her options came across the AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship with CT Skills.
"The majority of my friends continued on to their A Levels, so inevitably I followed the same path. However, after a year of being there I knew it was the wrong choice for me and I began looking in to other options, which is when I found out about an apprenticeship with CT Skills. I always felt that an apprenticeship would be able to get me started in my chosen career path."
After getting in touch with the apprenticeship team at CT Skills, Simran successfully secured a position as an AAT Apprentice with leading French Restaurant Bistrot Pierre.
“I was thrilled when I found out I had landed the apprenticeship position with Bistrot Pierre! I now feel I have a much more hands on approach to my future career path. I can't thank the apprenticeship team enough for all of their support throughout the hiring process."
Simran is currently completing her Level 3, AAT Assistant Accountant qualification, where she has responsibilities including processing invoices, dealing with supplier queries, completing bank reconciliations and posting till sheet expenses for all of the Bistrot Pierre restaurants in the UK. Upon completing the apprenticeship, Simran has high hopes for her future with Bistrot Pierre and is keen to progress on to her Level 4 AAT qualification.
"I can't wait to see what the future holds for me with Bistrot Pierre! CT Skills has allowed me to follow my dreams and access one of the most recognised qualifications within accountancy. I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone as it provides you with the skills for the world of work and a bright future!"
