For 10 years, Sarah Cobham, 34, was a dedicated employee working in the Care Sector. However, recently she found herself out of work and with that she slowly developed confidence issues. Sarah didn’t want to let her confidence affect her and she was keen to progress onto University to study Nursing, but first wanted to complete a course in Health and Social Care and Personal Development for Employability.
Eager to achieve her dream, Sarah discovered CT Skills and immediately liked the idea of completing a course in weeks. When asked about signing up to our short courses, Sarah commented, “This course seemed like a great stepping stone for me”.
She worked closely with the tutors at CT Skills Derby and flew through her courses, passing them with flying colours. When asked about the highlight of her courses, Sarah enthused, “It’s opened my eyes, especially on the topic of Dementia, I’m at ease with subject and have learnt so much.”
“My tutor Elizma has been so supportive, especially through the mock interview process. I was so anxious but she helped me through it.”
However, Sarah wanted to accomplish more.
After finishing her two previous courses, Sarah realised that she needed an English GCSE grade of C to be able to apply to her chosen University.
She continued her studies by enrolling on to Functional Skills English at CT Skills (equivalent to GCSE grade C/4) after working with English tutor Amy, she feels ready to complete her exam. Sarah is now extremely close to the necessary grades required for her university course and told us that as soon as she passes her English exam with us, she’s going to apply to Derby University.
When discussing the tutors, Sarah said,
“The support from the staff is fantastic. I can’t fault them. Thank you!”
But that’s not all!
Thanks to CT Skills, Sarah has secured a role with Derbyshire Care Services and has recently begun shadowing the team ahead of her first day. She boasted about how at ease she felt when starting the position and can’t wait until she goes back to continue shadowing.
When asked about her time at CT Skills, Sarah eagerly answered:
“CT Skills boosts your confidence so much. The staff are so informative. Since starting here I have secured a job, I’m better educated in English and my confidence has soared.”
“I have already recommended CT Skills to my family and friends!”
CT Skills wishes Sarah the best of luck with her future.
