Apprentice: Beth Wood (20)
Job Role: Apprentice Recruitment Administrator with CT Skills
Event: Leicester Jobs Fair
On Wednesday I attended a jobs fair in Leicester; I was meeting new possible candidates and guiding others on the best route to take in their current position. I was able to speak to people who were in the same position as me 2-3 months ago, advising them on the best directions to follow and the process in which it takes to get in with a great company. It’s pretty surreal how not that long ago I was in the same shoes as these people, needing help and guidance to find my way. Now I’m here to support and hopefully help them to start a new career.

This was my second jobs fair event, my first was in Nottingham at Motorpoint Arena. My confidence grows after every event and I feel so much better when talking to others about what we offer, how we work and what we can do to help them. It’s a great experience being able to talk to others and offer advice knowing that one day it could really have a positive impact on their life.
There are many different types of people who attend jobs fairs, so many different ages and reasoning’s for being unemployed such as: being made redundant, having children, health problems, even finding their first job or just genuinely needing a change of career. There are great ways of looking for a fresh start or just learning more about what’s out there for you! Jobs fairs provide so much information which can be very beneficial to you such as; careers that have never even crossed your mind, training courses which help you learn new skills, courses to up-skill you within a certain sector… All to help you get the best out of life and allow you to start or move up in your career!
Well as the jobs fair came to an end, we knew it was another success! We came away with many candidates whom we are able to log onto our systems; we can then get them signed up to one of our many courses. This could be for an apprenticeship or one of our sector based training courses within our Leicester Centre. We have so many fresh new courses available to learners including Customer Service courses with UPS at East Midlands Airport, Construction and Retail and I’m sure many more to come. If any of these are of interest to you, don’t be shy and give our customer service team a call on 0115 951 7261 to book on today or why not pop into our Leicester Centre and book on today!
