CT Skills learner lands job with Nottingham’s new roof top bar

Case Study

Courtney Newton, 23, has successfully landed a position at, Alto, Nottingham’s latest rooftop bar, after completing a Customer Service Sector Based Work Academy with CT Skills.

After finding herself out of work for over 2 years, Courtney started searching for a way she could make herself more employable, which is when she came across an advertisement on Indeed for a Customer Service Qualification with CT Skills, Nottingham.

Courtney said;

“I had previously worked in Administration, but felt that my period out of work meant I was lacking in some of the skills required for the jobs I was applying for. I eventually came across the Sector Based Work Academy with CT Skills and immediately applied, as I knew that gaining a recognised qualification would help with my employability.”

Courtney began the 10 day Customer Service qualification with CT Skills at the beginning of June and even though she was nervous, she soon felt at ease once she stepped in to the classroom.

She continued;

“The course at CT Skills was really fun and enjoyable, it was nothing like school and I never felt any pressure to get the answers right when I was in the classroom. My tutor, Jay Sheppard was lovely and so easy to talk too; he really helped to bring out my confidence!”

Within weeks of completing the course, Courtney secured an interview with Alto and was immediately offered a position as a waitress there.

Courtney explains;

“CT Skills massively helped me with the interview process and I wouldn’t have got the job if it wasn’t without their support. I felt that the course had made me more confident and that reflected throughout the entire interview process!”

Courtney will begin her role with Alto when the bar opens at the beginning of August and is now excited about what her future will hold.
