After beginning a career as a Business Development Manager and naturally making a move into Recruitment, Aaron Groombridge joined the CT Skills family in 2016 and brought with him the knowledge and expertise to support Nottinghamshire businesses in recruiting new talent.

We caught up with Aaron to find out more about this role with CT Skills.

How did you begin your career in Recruitment?

When I left school I knew I wanted to go straight into work so I joined Alliance Boots as one of their Christmas Temps, after 5 years of working there I worked my way up as a Business Development Manager which I enjoyed. From here I started my own business which was successful, but unfortunately the government funding changed in a way that wouldn’t have been feasible to continue, so I naturally moved into a career as Recruitment Consultant. I joined CT Skills in 2016 and my time here has been extremely fun and rewarding!


What do you love about your job?

I love finding the right candidate for the right company! I also enjoy being the person that gives the correct advice and guidance at the start of an apprentice’s career and enlightening young people about the world of apprenticeships!


Could you describe a typical day in your role?

It is extremely varied! A typical day would begin with checking through applications for Apprenticeship Vacancies, followed by screening candidates, giving correct Information Advice and Guidance (IAG), speaking with a learners parents/guardians as well speaking with employers (at all levels).  I am always striving to help people to start a career that is right for them.


Do you have any advice to someone considering a job with CT Skills?

Have you got an example of a really good day at CT Skills?

One stand out day for me at CT Skills was when I was rewarded with the “Respect Award” at the CT Skills Values Awards ceremony. There are five values at CT Skills and it was brilliant to even be considered for one never mind winning!
