CT Skills kicks off brand new sports apprenticeship

Thursday, July 27 2017

CT Skills is very excited to announce the launch of our brand new apprenticeship in “Physical Education & School Sport”.

The qualification has been designed to provide a greater understanding of the programmes of study available for physical education as well as the national curriculum.

It’s perfect for those who already work, or aspire to work, in a physical education and school sport setting, however it can also lead to a career as a teaching assistant.

The qualification has been developed in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE) and we’re working with 1st4sport, an industry expert since 1989, to deliver it.

Our new apprenticeship can lead to employment in a variety of roles including a: Sports Development Officer; sports coach, volunteer or leader; children’s activity professional; school sports instructor; or a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).

The qualification is a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Physical Education & School Sport and typically lasts for around a year.

The launch of the new programme follows the government’s continuing effort to get kids active by increasing the value of the primary PE and sports premium from September 2017 – using funds from the introduction of the so-called sugar tax.

The premium will double in value to £320 million from September 2017 and we’re using some of that funding to offer schools the opportunity to upskill existing staff as well as new recruits.

If you are interested in this apprenticeship, please call our team on 0115 959 9544 or email
