Learner case study: Matt Bennett

Left to right: Rosemary Dumycz (tutor), Matt Bennett, Nicole Butler (Business Admin apprentice)

When Matt (19) started learning with CT Skills, he was very unsure of what he wanted to achieve.

He’d found school challenging and had seemingly lost his way in employment – however he had achieved good GCSE grades of A-C.

Matt was very apprehensive about returning to an education setting but when we explained his options and what we could offer, things started to change.

Since then, Matt’s completed a number of Business Administration courses (including a traineeship) and has now secured an apprenticeship with Farsight Recruitment.

Working full-time and working towards his Level 2 apprenticeship within a busy recruitment agency is challenging and rewarding.

It’s a steep learning curve but Matt is working in an environment that plays to his skills and strengths while working in a great team in a fast growing company brings plenty of opportunities to progress.

Matt said: “If school had been like CT Skills I would’ve enjoyed it and achieved more while I was there.

“Both my tutor and CT Skills have helped me to achieve things that I never thought would be possible when I first came into the classroom.”

Matt’s journey was not easy but with the right support and encouragement his achievements have been truly outstanding and sets a great example for others.
